History of Methamphetamine
Methamphetamine was synthesized from ederphine in 1893 by a Japanese chemist, Nagai Nagayoshi. In 1919, the first form of crystalized methamphetamine (methamphetamine hydrochloride) was manufactured by Akira Ogata through reproduction of ephedrine using red phosphorus and iodine. One of the earliest known uses of methamphetamine was when it was provided to German World War II bomber pilots. It was given to them so they wouldn't experience fatigue and it allowed them to obtain sharpened focus during long flights.
